Bioelectrical Impedance Body Fat Calculation

Body Fat Percentage can be monitored and tracked using the Bioelectrical Impedance method. Muscles, blood vessels and bones have a high water content that conduct electricity easily. Body fat does not hold water, therefore it has a low electrical conductivity.

The OMRON Fat Loss Monitor sends an extremely low-level electrical current of 50kHz and 500mA through the body to determine the amount of fat tissue present. This weak current is safe and not felt while operating the Fat Loss Monitor. Patients with a pacemaker or defibrillator, however, should not use this method for testing.
